Star Party Rules:
Enchanted Skies Star Party takes place in the Cibola National Forest by special permit. Be a responsible visitor to public lands. Leave No Trace.

REGISTRATION: All ESSP events at the Dark Sky site are limited to registered attendees. Please keep a copy of verification of your registration with you at all times.
5 mph speed limit. No dust wakes
Children must be supervised by a parent at all times.
NOISE: Many attendees will be up until dawn to observe. Please keep all noise to an absolute minimum. Show consideration for your fellow observers. If you wish to have music while observing, please use headphones. In the campgrounds, there shall be no noise or music in the mornings before noon. Also, please no RV generators running from 7pm to noon.
ALCOHOL: No alcohol is allowed.
FIREWORKS: No fireworks are allowed.
FIREARMS: No discharging of firearms in or near the dark sky site.
SECURITY: You are responsible for your own security. However, there will be hosts at the dark sky site at all times.
CAMPING SITES: On arrival at the Dark Sky site, you will be assigned a camping site. These are the ONLY approved designated areas. Plan to arrive in daylight so that you may drive nearby to your site to unload, then park in the parking lot.
CAMPFIRES: No campfires are permitted.
PETS: NO pets are allowed at ESSP events, except for registered service animals, which must be kept on a six-foot leash at all times. There is a boarding kennel in Socorro, NM. Black Dog Boarding Kennel.
LIGHTS: There shall be no white light at night. The following restrictions are in effect from 9:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m.:
Vehicle headlights, parking lights, brake lights and interior dome lights must remain off at all times. Remove fuses or equip interior lights with red filters or red bulbs if you intend to open your car doors near the observing area.
Trailer and camper lights must remain off unless there is sufficient shielding installed on windows and doors to prevent light from being seen outside.
Lanterns and other forms of outside lighting are not permitted. Smokers should try to shield their lighters.
Flashlights must be equipped with red filters or red bulbs.
Those who wish to drive vehicles away from the observing area after dark must park in the parking area designated for that purpose. Those who park inside the observing areas may not move their vehicles after nightfall.
Medical emergencies take precedence over the rules.
GENERAL COURTESY: We are guests of Magdalena, NM and the National Forest Service. Please leave all ESSP areas clean and free of garbage and debris. Clean up and dispose of trash in the containers provided. Please do not throw cigarette butts on the ground. Be kind to the ground (no unnecessary tire tracks, etc.)!
