The Enchanted Skies Star Party

NAMETAGS: Except for the Public Lecture and Public Observing Session on Friday evening, all ESSP events are limited to registered attendees. Please wear your nametag at all times while attending ESSP events.

NOISE: Many attendees will be up until dawn to observe. Please keep all noise to an absolute minimum. Show consideration for your fellow observers. If you wish to have music while observing, please use headphones. In the campgrounds, there shall be no noise or music in the mornings before noon.

ALCOHOL: No alcohol is allowed at the Etscorn Campus Observatory or at the El Camino Real International Heritage Center.

CAMPFIRES: No campfires are permitted on the NM Tech campus. At the El Camino Real International Heritage Center, only the campfire built and maintained by ESSP staff is permitted.

PETS: No pets are allowed at ESSP events, except for seeing-eye dogs.

LIGHTS: There shall be no white light at night. The following restrictions are in effect from 9:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m.:

  1. Vehicle headlights, parking lights, brake lights and interior dome lights must remain off at all times. Remove fuses or equip interior lights with red filters or red bulbs if you intend to open your car doors near the observing area.
  2. Trailer and camper lights must remain off unless there is sufficient shielding installed on windows and doors to prevent light from being seen outside.
  3. Lanterns and other forms of outside lighting are not permitted. Smokers should try to shield their lighters.
  4. Flashlights must be equipped with red filters or red bulbs.
  5. Those who wish to drive vehicles away from the observing area after dark must park in the parking area designated for that purpose. Those who park inside the observing areas may not move their vehicles after nightfall.

GENERAL COURTESY: We are guests of New Mexico Tech and the El Camino Real International Heritage Center. Please leave all ESSP areas clean and free of garbage and debris. Clean up and dispose of trash in the containers provided. Please do not throw cigarette butts on the ground.
