Can you tell me more about the Tours of the observatories?
Please refer to the SCHEDULE for the timeline of the tours. The Magdalena Ridge Observatory is about an hour and a half caravan drive from “Star Village” and is atop a 10,600’ mountain. This tour lasts until about 10:30PM after which the caravan down the mountain will begin. If you choose to camp all night at the Magdalena Ridge Observatory, come prepared for cold weather and bring your dinner and snacks. The National Radio Astronomy Observatory is located about a half hour drive west from “Star Village”. The caravan will leave “Star Village” for the NRAO at 1:30PM and start back to “Star Village” around 4:30PM.
